Project Scope:
Design and develop a client-server application to help HP/Compaq track
multiple promotion projects, related subtasks, assigned team members,
send reports to the project email group list, creative form requests,
project cost estimates, project messages/notes tool, and upload/download
of project related files. Administration tool created to add/edit user login
profiles, assign access levels, and email group maintenance.
Technologies:
The web-based user interface was designed to run
on Microsoft's IIS 5.0 and ASP technologies. The application was
programmed using a combination of server-side VBScript and
client-side JavaScript. ODBC connections to the relational SQL database
that was designed and developed on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 to store all
related project data for the application. File-upload and download
functionality uses the SAFileUp COM object to store user files on the
server. Three levels of security exist for this application: NT Windows
authentication, application security login, and project level access (only
owners, managers, or team members of a project can view or edit the data
for that project).
